Despite technically being a still life of some sort of wooden crag thing, this was probably the least consciously-thought-out painting I've done in a long time. Everything that is good about it was done pretty much accidentally. I chose the colors almost randomly, had no idea where I was going with it, and basically made all my decisions on impulse without knowing why.

For all that, I really like the end result. Something about it feels like the painting didn't come from me, but is entirely separate from me. It's a little creepy.
